The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has announced that Hunt County is part of a major investigation into an alleged criminal enterprise involved in the theft and trafficking of petroleum products. The operation, which has been ongoing since mid-August, has led to the seizure of substantial assets and the arrest of several individuals, including members of the company's corporate leadership.
According to a DPS press release, the investigation was prompted by the discovery of an organized theft and trafficking ring, with the Texas-based oil and gas company Vallee being a prime suspect. The raid on a leased building at 5302 State Highway 276, conducted by the Hunt County Sheriff's Office and DPS troopers, resulted in the seizure of a large number of side-by-side vehicles and other all-terrain vehicles.
The DPS Criminal Investigations Division's Organized Oilfield Theft Prevention Unit, in collaboration with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, has been leading the investigation. To date, 17 search warrants have been executed across Hunt, Rockwall, Reeves, Kaufman counties, and Garvin County in Oklahoma.
The investigation has led to the arrest of six individuals, including some of Vallee's corporate leadership, who are facing state charges being prosecuted by the 143rd Judicial District Attorney's Office. The August operations have also resulted in the seizure of significant assets as part of asset forfeiture proceedings.
Among the seized assets are:
- 60 motor vehicles and off-road vehicles valued at approximately $2.85 million; - 34 luxury watches and pieces of jewelry valued at approximately $443,000; - $786,215 in U.S. currency; - approximately 2,600 barrels of petroleum products with an estimated market value of $220,402; - eight bank accounts with estimated values totaling more than $8 million.
DPS officials have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and that additional arrests and seizures are anticipated. The agency is committed to dismantling the criminal enterprise and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.
The theft and trafficking of petroleum products are serious crimes that can have far-reaching consequences. Not only do they result in significant financial losses for legitimate businesses, but they also contribute to a black market that can lead to other forms of criminal activity.
Community leaders in Hunt County have expressed concern about the impact of the investigation on the local economy and have called for increased vigilance in the wake of the raids. They have also praised the efforts of law enforcement agencies for their dedication to bringing those responsible to justice.
The public has been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity related to the theft and trafficking of petroleum products. Law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to ensure that the criminal enterprise is dismantled and that the community is protected from future threats.
As the investigation continues, the focus remains on Vallee and its alleged involvement in the organized theft and trafficking of petroleum products. The outcome of the investigation could have significant implications for the company and its leadership, as well as for the broader industry.
The Texas DPS has made it clear that it will continue to take a proactive approach to combating oilfield theft and trafficking. The agency is committed to working with local, state, and federal partners to ensure that those who engage in such activities are brought to justice and that the community is protected from the negative impacts of these crimes.
As the investigation unfolds, the public will be kept informed of any significant developments. The commitment to justice and the protection of the community remains at the forefront of this ongoing investigation.
