Road construction and maintenance projects are set to impact travelers across Ohio, with a series of lane restrictions and closures scheduled to begin this summer and continue into the fall. The projects, which are part of ongoing efforts to improve and maintain the state's transportation infrastructure, are expected to cause significant traffic disruptions in various regions.
In Allen County, Interstate 75 will see periodic lane restrictions between National Road in Cridersville and 4th Street in Lima from July 26 to August 28. The closures are necessary for micro-surfacing work. Additionally, a single-lane restriction is planned for Interstate 75 between 4th Street and Stewart Road from August 24 to 28 for pothole patching.
State Route 66, which connects the villages of Delphos and Spencerville, has been reopened following a closure for full-width paving. However, the intersection of State Route 66 and Main Street in Delphos will close from September 16 to 20 for the annual Canal Days festival. State Route 115 and Cole Street, approximately one mile south of U.S. 30, will also close for approximately 60 days for the construction of a roundabout.
In Auglaize County, the shoulder near the I-75 Northbound Rest Area will be closed from August 24 to 28 for ditch work. Interim lane closures on I-75 are expected between Middle Pike and Hengstler Road from May 18 through mid-August 2026, with crews installing cable rail. State Route 29 will be reduced to a single lane from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting March 16 through September 2026, while State Route 67 will see similar restrictions from May 4 through September 2026.
State Route 219 will be closed for approximately 90 days starting May 18 for bridge reconstruction, with a detour in place. State Route 364 will also be reduced to a single lane from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. starting April 27 through fall 2026, while State Route 703 will see similar restrictions from April 27 through fall 2026.
In Hardin County, State Route 37 at the Hancock and Hardin County line will close on August 31 for approximately 45 days for culvert replacement. U.S. 68/Detroit Street between Walnut Street and Perry Street will be closed for approximately six days starting August 24 for railroad crossing repair.
State Route 235 in Ada will close on September 19 for the Harvest and Herb festival, while State Route 701 between County Road 105 and County Road 115 has been reopened following culvert replacement. In Putnam County, State Route 65 in Leipsic will close from September 18 to 20 for the village festival, and State Route 114 and State Route 115 in Kalida may experience temporary traffic impacts from July 27 to October 30 for construction of a shared-use path.
In Van Wert County, U.S. 30 will be restricted to one lane in each direction due to a restricted crossing U-turn, U.S. 224, and Lincoln Highway roundabout construction. The intersection of U.S. 224 and Lincoln Highway has been closed since July 3 for bridge rehabilitation.
These road construction and maintenance projects are critical for ensuring the safety and efficiency of Ohio's transportation network. However, they are also likely to cause inconvenience for travelers. It is recommended that drivers plan their routes in advance and allow extra time for travel during the construction periods.
