### CNN Senior Data Analyst: Trump's Approval Rating "Stuck on Empty" with No Sign of Recovery

The approval rating of President Donald Trump has reached a new low, according to CNN's senior data analyst Harry Enten, who described the situation as a stagnation that shows no sign of improvement. In a recent appearance on CNN, Enten highlighted the ongoing decline in Trump's net approval rating, noting that it remains consistently low with no indication of a rebound.

"This is a president who is stuck on empty, and it is just... I mean just look at this," Enten said, gesturing to a graphic that depicted the steady decline. "It's just consistently low; It's stuck on empty, stuck on neutral. Whatever type of gasoline analogy you want to use."

The new data from a Reuters/Ipsos poll reveals that Trump's approval rating has dipped to a mere 33%, with his disapproval rating skyrocketing to 65%. The survey found that only 13% of Americans strongly approve of Trump's performance, while a significant 49% strongly disapprove. This stark divide in public opinion underscores the depth of the president's unpopularity.

Despite the overwhelming disapproval from the general public, 82% of Republicans approve of Trump's job performance. However, the intensity of this support appears to be weakening, with only 35% of Republicans saying they strongly approve of the president.

The poll also indicated that Democrats are holding a slight edge on the generic ballot, with 35% of Americans saying they would vote for a Democratic candidate compared to 29% who would choose a Republican. Another 16% of respondents were unsure of their choice, and an additional 16% said they do not plan to vote. This suggests that the political landscape may be shifting in favor of the Democratic Party.

The polling data, which surveyed 1,215 U.S. adults between Aug. 21 and Aug. 24, has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.9 percentage points. The findings come as a stark contrast to Trump's own self-assessment of his presidency. On Thursday, he posted a graphic on Truth Social, a social media platform he uses, ranking U.S. presidents, with himself at the top labeled "Greatest." The next tier was labeled "Great," which included the likes of Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Franklin D. Roosevelt, and Thomas Jefferson.

This apparent disconnect between the reality of Trump's approval ratings and his self-perception has sparked further debate about the state of American politics. Critics argue that Trump's inflated self-esteem is a sign of his detachment from the reality of his presidency, while supporters suggest that his approval ratings are artificially low and that his policies are ultimately beneficial for the country.

Despite the gloomy polling numbers, Trump continues to push forward with his agenda, confident in his ability to lead the nation. However, the growing chorus of disapproval suggests that his presidency may be facing significant challenges as he moves forward.

The situation has also sparked a heated debate among political analysts about the factors contributing to Trump's declining popularity. Some point to his controversial policies, while others argue that his brash and confrontational style has alienated a significant portion of the American public.

As the 2026 elections approach, the political landscape will likely become even more contentious. With Trump's approval rating remaining low and no signs of recovery, it remains to be seen how the political environment will evolve in the coming months. Only time will tell whether Trump can turn the tide and regain the support of the American people or if the current trend of declining approval ratings will continue.
